Marsh Girls Help out

Early this morning we got cutting out some of the other shapes. As we are in the heart of summer, I have found it hard to get out and do the heavy work needed for this project. Thankfully my husband wanted to help me on this lovely Saturday morning. It was also great because the little girls from next store came by to help trace out the final images.

Along with Jonathan we took all the drawn out images to the wall, to see how they would all look and fit along the space shapes-on-wall.

The girls and I stood along side to add to the images being used. Funny! Then Jonathan took to cutting out the shapes. The day was getting warm and we did the best to find shade in which to work. The cement board creates lots of dust, so you have to wear the mask, which makes you even hotter.

It is a slow process, but so cool to see the shapes coming out.

He got through two boards before the blade was too dull to go further.

Some of the left over pieces created where really great shapes that reminded me of West Coast landscapes. SO we decided to take one of the pieces and create a "use-what-you-have-" mosaic to give to the project in Ireland. Very cool idea.

Now off to the FCA for our afternoon workshop...
